2 Ideas for Final Project
Summary of the Video
For my final project, I shared two design ideas.
My first idea focuses on English phonics learning. As a literacy interventionist in an elementary school in Boston, I often find it challenging to teach my learner consonant and vowel combinations such as tr, sh, ch, ea, ee, ai, and ay. To address this, I want to design an interactive phonics learning toolkit using letter magnets that include not only single letters but also common sound combinations. My goal is to make word spelling a more engaging and hands-on activity, helping students better understand how sounds combine in English words.
My second idea is about music learning, particularly pentatonics. Since I’m also receiving vocal training, I often practice pentatonic scales but struggle to play the piano while singing. Therefore, I plan to design a learning toolkit for pentatonics that integrates a metronome to help with rhythm and tempo. This tool would allow me—and other learners—to practice scales by adding or removing notes one by one, making vocal training more structured and convenient.
I hope to collaborate with anyone interested in English phonics teaching or music learning, and I’m excited to hear feedback on these ideas.
