Deliverables
Our final product for the EDU T127 Teaching and Learning Lab Practicum consists of two complementary deliverables designed to empower future teachers by integrating AI into professional development.
The first deliverable is a redesigned Canvas course titled “Empowering Future Teachers”. This reimagined course addresses the common problem that many professional development (PD) sessions feel disconnected from real teaching contexts. We streamlined the original HPL content to focus on actionable strategies that teachers can immediately apply in their classrooms. The course includes four modules—Preparation, Learner Development, Learning Environment Design, and Social Networking—each embedded with real classroom case studies that illustrate HPL concepts in practice. Through guided activities and reflection prompts, teachers learn to connect theoretical insights from brain science and developmental psychology to their daily instructional routines, building more practical and habit-forming professional growth experiences.
The second deliverable is the Teacher AI Support Bot, developed on the Pingpong platform. This AI mentor bot serves as a personalized, always-available assistant that provides teachers with tailored, HPL-aligned suggestions grounded in developmental and cognitive science. Teachers can interact with the bot by sharing classroom challenges, and the system responds with context-specific strategies for motivation, differentiation, and learning design. Each Canvas module incorporates opportunities for teachers to practice using the bot, making AI collaboration an integral part of their ongoing reflective teaching process.
These two deliverables bridge the gap between theory and classroom practice, offering an innovative model of AI-integrated professional development that supports teachers’ growth through both structured learning design and interactive, technology-enhanced mentoring.
